While News Outlets Shrink Across the US, Stations Expand News Coverage
 
(Berkeley, CA - April 13, 2009) At a time when newspapers across the country are shutting their doors and news departments are disappearing, KPFK Radio in Los Angeles and KPFA Radio in the San Francisco Bay Area are launching a joint California-wide newscast.  The newscast, which will begin airing the week of April 20th, will cover local and regional issues of concern to the residents of America’s most populous state, such as incarceration, the foreclosure crisis, police brutality, labor struggles, and the many threats to California’s environment.

(Berkeley, CA – January 20, 2009) With the swearing of Barack Obama as the United States' 44th President, and the beginning of the 111th Session of the US Congress, Pacifica Radio launches a new program which takes a hard look at how the new government plans to respond to the economic crisis, global warming, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, health care, civil rights, foreign policy, and the so called "war on terrorism".  The program, titled "Letters from Washington: The First Hundred Days", is hosted by Mitch Jeserich, veteran Capitol Hill correspondent and executive producer of KPFA's Morning Show, and produced out of the studios of Pacifica station WPFW in Washington DC.

Berkeley, California (June 16, 2008) - On Thursday, June 26, KPFA Radio will broadcast the House Judiciary Committee's hearing on torture. David Addington, Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to the Vice President, and Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General John C. Yoo will testify.
